Basketball Recap: Pine Forest's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

After a string of five wins, Pine Forest's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 65-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Terry Sanford Bulldogs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 82-63 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Pine Forest still got an impressive performance from Angelo Jones, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Jones a new career-high in blocks (two). Christian Baynes was another key player, going 7 of 15 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Terry Sanford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamaal Miller, who went 8 for 13 en route to 17 points in addition to eight boards and six blocks. Miller has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gaven Kraut, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Pine Forest's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7. As for Terry Sanford, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-10.

Pine Forest and Western Harnett will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. Pine Forest is facing Western Harnett at the right time seeing as Western Harnett is stuck on a 16-game losing streak. As for Terry Sanford, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Harnett Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Harnett Central will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Terry Sanford surely won't give up without a fight.
