Preview: Ravenswood Red Devils vs. Southern Tornadoes
Ravenswood has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Southern Tornadoes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Ravenswood, who comes in off a win.
Even though Ravenswood has not done well against Ritchie County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Ravenswood claimed a resounding 60-28 win over Ritchie County at home. Ravenswood has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 23 points or more this season.
Hadleigh McGoskey continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Ravenswood's points. Another player making a difference was Maci Mosser, who scored nine points.
Southern suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Monday. They were dealt a 59-24 defeat at the hands of River Valley. While losing is never fun, Southern can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 635th, while River Valley is ranked 256th).
Ravenswood has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Southern, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Everything came up roses for Ravenswood against Southern when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 71-41 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ravenswood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
