Basketball Game Preview: Southwest Patriots vs. Northeast Raiders

A classic North v. South matchup is on the schedule. Having just played yesterday, the Southwest Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Northeast Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Southwest has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 13.

Southwest is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Bleckley County on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Southwest took a blow against Bleckley County, falling 57-17. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 430th, while the Royals are ranked 159th).

Shakiya Dean was Southwest's leading scorer, having posted five points.

Meanwhile, Northeast suffered their biggest defeat since January 7th on Friday. They came up short against Central, falling 50-24. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Chargers recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Northeast's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Southwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-15.

Southwest came out on top in a nail-biter against Northeast in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, sneaking past 34-31. Will Southwest repeat their success, or does Northeast have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
