Basketball Recap: Buena Vista Comes Up Short

Buena Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 42-36 heartbreaker at the hands of the Salida Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Demons of the 37-32 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Buena Vista still got an impressive performance from Daisy Lubbers, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards. Lubbers is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Macy Reavis was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Salida to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braeden Johnson, who posted 11 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Graysa Kindle, who scored 13 points and six boards.

Buena Vista's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Salida, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 18-3.

Buena Vista has already played their next game, a 37-35 defeat against Ellicott on the 28th. As for Salida, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 52-46 loss against Lamar on the 28th.
