Basketball Recap: Monticello Buckaroo vs. Monument Valley Cougars
Monticello won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They were beaten by the Monument Valley Cougars 64-37. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Buckaroo of the 70-35 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Makenna Peterson and Braylee Freestone certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Peterson went 9 for 14 en route to 21 points, while Freestone went 5 of 8 on her way to 11 points. Freestone is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
It was another big night for Dakotah Cly, who posted 19 points for Monument Valley. Kaylisa Tome was another key player, putting up 13 points.
Monticello has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Monument Valley, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
