Softball Preview: Trinity Academy Knights vs. Haven Wildcats

Trinity Academy came out on top against Kingman/Norwich on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Knights blew past the Eagles 11-1. Fans of the Knights have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Haven came out on top against Nickerson on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 14-run second inning. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Panthers. The Wildcats are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the 13th match they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Avery Brawner made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Haven got a massive performance out of Ella Bontrager, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Bontrager a new career-high. Caeli Hunninghake was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Haven was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .611. They are 13-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
