Preview: Dobbs Ferry Eagles vs. Putnam Valley Tigers
The Dobbs Ferry Eagles will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Putnam Valley Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dobbs Ferry has three straight victories, Putnam Valley has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Two weeks ago, Dobbs Ferry was able to grind out a solid win over Barack Obama School for Social Justice, taking the game 60-47. Given Dobbs Ferry's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while Barack Obama School for Social Justice is ranked 296th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Putnam Valley pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of The Leffell School by a score of 59-56.
Dobbs Ferry's victory was their third straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. As for Putnam Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Dobbs Ferry was able to grind out a solid victory over Putnam Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2020, winning 64-55. Does Dobbs Ferry have another victory up their sleeve, or will Putnam Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
