Basketball Recap: Lorain Victorious

Lorain had to endure a five-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 67-66 win over the Maple Heights Mustangs. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Titans also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Despite the loss, Maple Heights still got an impressive performance from Davan Aniton, who went 10 for 19 on his way to 22 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Another player making a difference was Kaelon Hurt, who posted 11 points in addition to six assists and four steals.

Lorain's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Maple Heights, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Lorain will take on Garfield Heights in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Garfield Heights will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Lorain surely won't give up without a fight. As for Maple Heights, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 63-54 defeat against Lutheran West on the 17th.
