The Vanguard School waltzed into their contest on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 50-46 W against the Ellicott Thunderhawks. This was a revenge game for the Coursers: when they faced off against the Thunderhawks back in January, they had to take a 55-54 defeat.

The Vanguard School's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordyn Christensen, who went 5-for-11 en route to 11 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Christensen has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Meli Felix, who posted ten points and eight boards.

The Vanguard School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. They are 7-2 when they hit their own glass that hard.

The Vanguard School now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Ellicott, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-7.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Vanguard School will venture away from home to challenge Thomas MacLaren School at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Thomas MacLaren School is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season. As for Ellicott, they will face off against Manual at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ellicott is facing Manual at the right time seeing as Manual is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
