Softball Game Preview: Caston Comets vs. Oak Hill Golden Eagles

The Caston Comets will venture away from home to challenge the Oak Hill Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Caston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Caston will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Triton on Thursday. The Comets put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 12-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won six in a row.

Caston got a massive performance out of Natalie Warner, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI Warner has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kylee Logan, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Caston hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Oak Hill fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Mississinewa on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 9-7. That makes it the first time this season the Golden Eagles have let down their home crowd.

Caston's victory bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Oak Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.

Caston skirted past Oak Hill 7-6 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
