Softball Recap: Madison-Grant Extends Winning Streak to Five

Madison-Grant extended their winning streak to five on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 15-6 in the process. Everything went their way against the Elwood Panthers as they made off with a 10-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Argylls, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Madison-Grant let Johnna Hiatt and Grace Wood run wild. Hiatt went 4-for-5 with two RBI, while Wood went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Hiatt has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Demie Havens, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

Madison-Grant was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .395. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

As for Elwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

On Elwood's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kelsey Armes, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madison-Grant will venture away from home to take on Wes-Del at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Argylls' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Elwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Lapel at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
