Baseball Recap: Marquette University's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Marquette University had lost four games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 11-8 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They won by a run and slipped past the Germantown Warhawks 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Hilltoppers: when they faced off against the Warhawks on Tuesday, they had to take a 3-0 loss.

As for Germantown, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4. The contest marked their lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

For Germantown's part, they got a good showing from Tyson Baker, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Baker has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Germantown saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Doug Wagner, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Ty Olszewski also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Coming up, Marquette University will head out to face off against Whitefish Bay at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last five games the Blue Dukes have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Germantown, they will be playing at home against Homestead at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
