Basketball Game Preview: Discovery Spartans vs. Bartow Yellow Jackets

The Discovery Spartans will venture away from home to square off against the Bartow Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Discovery will be strutting in after a victory while Bartow will be coming in after a defeat.

Discovery is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Legacy Charter to the tune of 52-23 on Monday. The Spartans pushed the score to 38-13 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles had little chance of recovering from.

Ralana Spence was nothing short of spectacular: she posted 25 points. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Nayshaunti Stewart, who put up eight points.

Meanwhile, Bartow was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 53-24 defeat at the hands of Mulberry. While losing is never fun, the Yellow Jackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 513th, while the Panthers are ranked 135th).

Discovery's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Bartow, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Everything went Discovery's way against Bartow when the teams last played back in November, as Discovery made off with a 48-23 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Discovery since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
