Softball Recap: William Blount Takes a Loss

William Blount had lost six straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 16-11 to make it seven. They came up short against the Farragut Admirals, falling 10-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Admirals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 on April 3rd.

As for Farragut, their record now sits at 23-9-1. The result was nothing new for the Admirals, who have now won 16 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Farragut's part, Hallie Grace Johnson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Johnson has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since April 3rd.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elsa Morrison, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Logan Jameson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Coming up, William Blount will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Eagleton College & Career Academy at 6:00 p.m. The Governors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Royals have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Farragut, they are taking a road trip to take on Gibbs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Admirals surely won't give up without a fight.
