Basketball Recap: Leon Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Leon won the last time they faced Taylor County and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Leon Lions came out on top against the Taylor County Bulldogs by a score of 71-59. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 513th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was DeKendrick Williams out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 steals. Those 11 steals gave Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tristen Thompson, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

Leon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Leon's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for Taylor County, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leon will challenge Tallavana Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Leon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.5 points per game this season. As for Taylor County, they will square off against FAMU DRS at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
