Baseball Game Preview: East Bridgewater Vikings vs. Mashpee Falcons

The East Bridgewater Vikings will square off against the Mashpee Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. East Bridgewater will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

East Bridgewater had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Carver on Monday. The Vikings never let the Crusaders get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory.

Meanwhile, Mashpee posted their closest win since April 2nd on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over Rockland. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Andrew Fancher made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mashpee is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Fancher was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Fancher wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was James Serafini, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave Serafini a new career-high.

East Bridgewater pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Mashpee, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

East Bridgewater came out on top in a nail-biter against Mashpee when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
