Recap: Lincoln County Lions vs. Bonners Ferry Badgers

If the Lincoln County Lions were riding high off their 60-22 takedown of the Plains Horsemen last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Lincoln County was dealt a 89-58 loss at the hands of Bonners Ferry on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Lincoln County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brynn Miller, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Miller pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Haidyn Guckenberg, who scored ten points along with three steals.

Bonners Ferry was led to victory by Asha Abubakari and Taren Bateman. Abubakari scored 27 points, while Bateman scored 40 points. Bateman has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times she's played.

Lincoln County's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Bonners Ferry, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Lincoln County will be playing in front of their home fans against Superior at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Superior is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. Bonners Ferry won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Timberlake at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Idaho (Timberlake is ranked 21st, while Bonners Ferry is ranked 50th).
