It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but SouthWest Edgecombe ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the West Craven Eagles 7-6. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Eagles on Tuesday, they had to take a 2-1 defeat.

Chase Taylor and Parker Gay made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Taylor pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Gay tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Taylor has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Taylor earned two runs and two stolen bases, while Gay got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Logan Webb was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

SouthWest Edgecombe's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for West Craven, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-13.

As of now, neither SouthWest Edgecombe nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
