Carroll is a perfect 10-0 against Ray since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Texans at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Carroll took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Miller 12-2. Considering the Tigers have won 16 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ali Ann Deleon spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Talina Valdez and Jaslyn Yzaguirre did most of the damage at the plate: Valdez went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Yzaguirre went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Valdez has posted since back in March. Kaeleigh Mendez was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Ray came into Monday's game having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against Corpus Christi Moody on Monday as they made off with a 15-6 win.
The team relied heavily on Kailey Benavides, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Ramirez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Carroll has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Ray, their win bumped their record up to 7-18.
Carroll took their victory against Ray when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 13-3 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Texans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
