Basketball Game Preview: Mater Academy Charter Lions vs. South Miami Cobras

The Mater Academy Charter Lions and the South Miami Cobras will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Mater Academy Charter took a loss when they played away from home on Sunday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They greeted the New Year with with a 63-49 victory over Hallandale.

Jet Walis had a dynamite game for Mater Academy Charter, going 7 of 11 en route to 20 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, South Miami was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 61-56 to Archbishop Carroll. The Cobras have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mater Academy Charter's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for South Miami, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
