Softball Recap: Clay Wins Going Away Against Green

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clay). They blew past the Green Bobcats 11-0 on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Laney Shepherd was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Shepherd was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elin Shaw, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Lynsey Loop, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Clay kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Green only managed three hits.

Clay's record is now 2-3. As for Green, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Coming up, Clay will face off against Glenwood at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Green has already played their next game (against St. Joseph Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
