Basketball Recap: Yucaipa Snags Sixth Victory in Last Seven Games

Yucaipa extended their home winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Jaxon Lerma. The stars were shining brightly for the Yucaipa Thunderbirds in a 72-54 win over the Victor Valley Jackrabbits on Friday thanks in part to Lerma, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 8.2 rebounds per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Malik Young, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 19 points and eight assists. That's the most assists he has posted since back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Victor Valley lost, don't look at ISAIAH BUTLER. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 16 on his way to 22 points. BUTLER's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of AXEL SOSA, who posted nine points.

Yucaipa has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.1 points per game. As for Victor Valley, they moved to 5-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Yucaipa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 78-30 victory against Arroyo Valley on the 26th. As for Victor Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-51 defeat against Narbonne on the 26th.
