Basketball Recap: Rowe Warriors vs. Vela Sabercats
Rowe lost against Vela back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Rowe Warriors fell just short of the Vela Sabercats by a score of 51-49. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly two points.
Vela's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Savanah Rivera, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. That's the most boards Rivera has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gg Betancourt, who posted 12 points and four steals.
Rowe has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 20-6 record this season. As for Vela, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.
Rowe and Vela should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Rowe (ranked 175th) will meet Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial (ranked 1388th) at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Vela (ranked 334th) will meet Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest (ranked 1422nd) at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
