Preview: Homer Knights vs. Osmond/Randolph Hawks

Homer has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Osmond/Randolph Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Homer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.

Homer suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 63-38 loss at the hands of Kingsley-Pierson. While losing is never fun, Homer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 205th in Nebraska, while Kingsley-Pierson is ranked 96th in Iowa).

Despite the loss, Homer saw an underclassman step up: Lilly Harris scored 17 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harris has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Hightree, who scored eight points along with three steals.

Homer struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Osmond/Randolph, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 43-25 loss to Plainview on Thursday. Osmond/Randolph has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The losing side was boosted by Keli Aschoff, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Erin Wagner was another key contributor, scoring seven points.

Homer has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Osmond/Randolph, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Homer have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Osmond/Randolph struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
