Basketball Recap: Los Alamos Hilltoppers vs. Bernalillo Spartans
The Los Alamos Hilltoppers were the 70-50 winner over the Bernalillo Spartans when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Los Alamos took a 67-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. Los Alamos just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Los Alamos lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Niko Garcia. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points. Luke Archuleta was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds.
Los Alamos dropped their record down to 6-12 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Bernalillo, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Los Alamos is on the road again on Thursday and plays the Sundevils at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Mexico (Espanola Valley is ranked 66th, while the Hilltoppers are ranked 73rd). As for Bernalillo, they will head out on the road to take on the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Albuquerque Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully the Spartans like a good challenge.
