Southeast Alamance is headed into the match having just posted their closest win since April 22, 2024 on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over Clover Garden School.
Tatum Shelton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 12 hits.

On the hitting side, Brooke Hardister was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Kailyn Richardson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Chatham Central came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 10-6. Ten seems to be a good number for the Bears as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Chatham Central also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Maddie Kaczmarczyk gave up three earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sallie Oldham, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Madalyn Holton was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Chatham Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in four consecutive contests.
Southeast Alamance's record is now 5-6. As for Chatham Central, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Southeast Alamance has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Chatham Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Southeast Alamance couldn't quite finish off Chatham Central in their previous meeting on Monday and fell 10-8. Can Southeast Alamance avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
