Preview: Clayton Clippers vs. Wildwood Warriors

Clayton is 0-10 against Wildwood since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Clayton Clippers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildwood Warriors at 5:30 p.m. Clayton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Wildwood is ranked 61st).

Clayton struggled with assists on Saturday (Sterling had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The matchup between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Clayton falling 57-40.

Clayton's defeat came about despite a quality game from Rainelle Blocker, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 50% of Clayton's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ava Delaney, who scored ten points.

Meanwhile, Wildwood waltzed into their game on Sunday with three straight wins but they left with four. They strolled past Lower Cape May with points to spare, taking the game 40-26. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Wildwood has scored all season.

Clayton now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Wildwood, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Clayton suffered a grim 74-48 defeat to Wildwood when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Will Clayton have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
