Basketball Recap: Callen Tollestrup Key Part of Team Effort in Bulldogs Win

Provo hadn't done well against Salem Hills recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bulldogs took down the Skyhawks 65-51. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 69-65 win the Skyhawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Provo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Callen Tollestrup, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards. The matchup was Tollestrup's sixth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Castagnetto, who shot 45% from the field en route to 15 points and three steals.

Provo was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Salem Hills only racked up nine.

Salem Hills' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tanner Huff, who posted nine points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Elijah Gasser, who scored ten points along with five boards and three steals.

The victory got Provo back to even at 3-3. As for Salem Hills, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Provo will face off against Brighton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Salem Hills, they will square off against Clearfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
