Volleyball Recap: Zeeland West Comes Up Short

Zeeland West had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jenison Wildcats on Saturday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it ten in a row.

Jenison's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rylee Paddock, who had five digs and four aces. That's the most aces Paddock has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cora Rotman, who had 13 assists and four digs.

Jenison has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Zeeland West will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Holland Christian at 6:00 p.m. on September 4. As for Jenison, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Northview on the 23rd.
