Softball Recap: Arlington Catholic Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Arlington Catholic took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Bishop Fenwick, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cougars narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Crusaders 8-7. Eight seems to be a good number for the Cougars as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Ava De Andrade spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Annie Driscoll was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Cam Rose, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Arlington Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Arlington Catholic's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6. As for Bishop Fenwick, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arlington Catholic will face off against Concord-Carlisle at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bishop Fenwick, they will challenge Bishop Feehan at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
