Basketball Recap: Cook Inlet Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

After flying high against Nunamiut last Thursday, Cook Inlet Academy came back down to earth. The Cook Inlet Academy Eagles came up short against the Shaktoolik Wolverines on Friday, falling 64-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered since December 30, 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Cook Inlet Academy lost, don't look at Ian McGarry. Despite the final result, he posted 19 points. McGarry's afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

With the loss, Cook Inlet Academy broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-3. As for Shaktoolik, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.

Cook Inlet Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Minto at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Minto is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.7 points per game this season. Shaktoolik has already played their next game (against Aniguiin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
