Preview: Lockney Longhorns vs. Hale Center Owls
Lockney is 0-5 against Hale Center since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lockney Longhorns will head out on the road to face off against the Hale Center Owls at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Lockney's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five games.
Lockney had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year. They walked away with a 35-22 win over Ralls on Friday.
Xavier Jimenez was his usual excellent self, rushing for 160 yards and a touchdown.
Hale Center can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 38-17 margin over Bovina. The score was close at the half, but Hale Center pulled away in the second half with 23 points.
Lockney's win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.6 points per game. As for Hale Center, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.
Lockney was taken down by Hale Center 40-13 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can Lockney avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
