Basketball Recap: Snow Canyon Extends Winning Streak to 20

Snow Canyon put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 58-35 margin over the Pine View Panthers. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Panthers are ranked 41st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Snow Canyon had a senior duo take command as Olivia Hamlin went 10 of 22 on her way to 22 points in addition to six assists and six steals and Joey Jensen went 7 for 13 en route to 16 points and five assists. The matchup was Hamlin's 46th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Chaylee Andrews, who posted four points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.

Reese Gustin and Charity Falaniko certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Gustin put up eight points, while Falaniko scored six points and five boards. That's the most points Falaniko has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniva Seve, who had four points and six rebounds.

Snow Canyon's win was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-0. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 29.2% in those games and 37.2% outside of them. As for Pine View, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Snow Canyon will take on Cedar at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cedar knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Snow Canyon likes a good challenge. As for Pine View, they will face off against Dixie at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
