Recap: Akron Rams vs. Wray Eagles

Even though the Akron Rams have not done well against the Wray Eagles recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Akron blew past Wray 54-23 on the road. With Akron ahead 32-10 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Akron's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kashlee Randel, who scored 17 points along with six assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Randel has scored all season. Kinsey Grauer was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds and six assists.

When it comes to explaining why Wray lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sharon Greek. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Greek pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Dori Saffer, who scored five points along with four steals.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Wray struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Akron racked up 15 assists.

Akron now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Wray, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Akron and Fleming will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Fleming is ranked 57th, while Akron is ranked 60th). Wray won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Denver Christian at 12:00 p.m. on January 13th.
