Basketball Recap: Foard Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Holden Caldwell and Malachi Mcknight

Foard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-61 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Iredell Raiders. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (60), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Malachi Mcknight and Holden Caldwell certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Mcknight went 8 of 18 on his way to 21 points, while Caldwell posted 16 points. Joey Marra was another key player, putting up seven points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Foard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Foard's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for North Iredell, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Foard will face off against West Iredell at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Foard is facing West Iredell at the right time seeing as West Iredell is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for North Iredell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Stephens at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Stephens is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season.
