Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for St. Joseph

St. Joseph came tearing into Monday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Danbury Hatters. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cadets also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Katie Dzialo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Dzialo wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kelsey Flanagan, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

St. Joseph's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Danbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. St. Joseph is set to challenge their familiar foe Stamford at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Danbury will face off against rival New Canaan at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hatters 3.2, the Rams 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
