League recap: Forest Hills extends winning streak with victory over Piedmont

Forest Hills extended the longest winning streak in 2A/1A Rocky River this week by beating Piedmont, 32-20. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Cuthbertson was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. The Cavaliers beat Union Academy 35-0 earlier in the week.

Ryan Kendall was the best wideout in the league this week as Cuthbertson beat the Cardinals. Kendall racked up four receptions for 91 yards. Emmitt Afam helped Cuthbertson's passing attack out by catching three balls for 62 yards.

Austin Kendall provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Michael Roark's team bested Union Academy. He completed nine passes for 195 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 35 yards.

Devin Johnson was the most productive running back in 2A/1A Rocky River this week. He ran for 116 yards on 17 carries as the Cavaliers topped Lynn Keziah's team. Teammate Kendall added to the ground attack by rushing for 62 yards.

Travis Levin put up the best numbers through the air as Central Academy beat West Stanly. He finished with a total of 13 completions for 183 yards and four touchdowns. Levin's favorite target this week was Cody Jefferson, who caught three passes for 61 yards.

On the ground, North Stanly's Antonio Williams has rushed for 1071 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Afam. The Cuthbertson star has 32 catches for 468 yards.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Monroe takes on the Colts. The Redhawks' offense has racked up 224 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while West Stanly has allowed only 322 on the year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Cardinals take on Forest Hills. Union Academy is currently in fourth, while John Lowery's team is in first.

The Cougars made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,897 from 12,957. The improvement came about via a 44-9 victory over Jared Bennett's team last week.
