Soccer Game Preview: Leonard vs. Olympic Heights

The Leonard Lancers will head out to face off against the Olympic Heights Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Leonard is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.6 goals per game this season.

Leonard's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past West Boca Raton 8-0. Julio Torres Castellon was a massive factor in the win as he booted in five goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Olympic Heights won against Dwyer on Friday with three goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Wednesday. Olympic Heights walked away with a 3-1 win over Park Vista. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Cobras are ranked 263rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leonard is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 34 goals over those nine matchups. As for Olympic Heights, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-2-1.

Leonard suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Olympic Heights when the teams last played back in January of 2022. Can Leonard avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
