Baseball Recap: Newark Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Livonia, Newark was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Avon Braves by a score of 7-2.

Cody Forjone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nolan Rice, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Devin Littlefield was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Newark now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Avon, their defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Newark has already played their next match, an 8-1 loss against Westfield on the 17th. As for Avon, they will welcome Caledonia-Mumford at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
