Baseball Recap: Red River Find Success

Red River came out on top against Shanley on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Roughriders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Deacons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Roughriders have posted against the Deacons since May 2, 2019.

Rilan Korynta looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caden Tostenson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Adrian Gonzalez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Red River and bumps their season record up to 16-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Shanley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

As of now, neither Red River nor Shanley have any future games scheduled.
