Gracynn Gough and Blanca Thomas secure win for Charlotte Catholic

Recap: Charlotte Catholic Cougars vs. Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers

The Charlotte Catholic Cougars put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Charlotte Country Day School with a sharp 62-42 victory. With Charlotte Catholic ahead 39-19 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Leading Charlotte Catholic to victory were Gracynn Gough and Blanca Thomas. Gough scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Thomas scored 23 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Thomas has scored at least 25% of Charlotte Catholic's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Kernodle, who scored eight points along with three steals.

Charlotte Country Day School lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Margaret Blythe, who scored 21 points. Blythe continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last five games she's played. Sam Vanderhave was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.

Charlotte Country Day School struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Charlotte Catholic pulled down nine offensive rebounds.

Charlotte Catholic's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Charlotte Country Day School, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.

Charlotte Catholic will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Watauga at 10:30 a.m. on December 27th. Watauga is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Charlotte Country Day School will take on Fort Mill in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at. Fort Mill will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
