Volleyball Game Preview: Cadott Hornets vs. McDonell Central Macks

Cadott hasn't had much luck against McDonell Central recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Macks at 7:15 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Cadott sitting on seven straight wins and McDonell Central on 22.

Cadott will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Fall Creek, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Crickets on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Cadott never let Fall Creek on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-14, 25-22.

Cadott found their leader in sophomore Olivia Blanchette, who had 13 digs. Kennedy Nerdrum also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Meanwhile, McDonell Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Loyal on Saturday, taking the game 2-0.

Cadott's record now sits at 17-6. As for McDonell Central, their record is now 26-2.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Cadott has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.4 aces per game. However, it's not like McDonell Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.2 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Cadott came up short against McDonell Central when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 3-1. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
