Basketball Recap: Hondo Valley Takes a Loss

Hondo Valley lost against Alamo Navajo two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hondo Valley Eagles were outmatched by the Alamo Navajo Cougars and fell 79-31. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Zephaniah Guerro was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 19 points and 12 boards for Alamo Navajo. Guerro is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 30 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Cobre Mexicano, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 10 points and three steals.

Hondo Valley's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Alamo Navajo, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Coming up, Hondo Valley is taking a road trip to challenge Mountainair at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mountainair will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Hondo Valley surely won't give up without a fight. As for Alamo Navajo, they will welcome Carrizozo at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
