            Baseball Preview: Surry County Cougars vs. Windsor Dukes        
        
		
        
        
            The Surry County Cougars will venture away from home to  challenge the Windsor Dukes  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their  matches after big wins in their previous games.
Surry County barely beat Franklin the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars never let the Broncos get on the board and left with  a   10-0  victory  on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

 Tanner Keckler made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only  one  hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been consistent  recently: he hasn't  given up  more than one  hit any time he's  pitched this season. He was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in two of his three plate appearances.
 In other batting news, Surry County let  Mathew Johnson and  Dalton Pierce run wild. Johnson  went 1-for-3 with one  home run and two  RBI, while  Pierce  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while  getting on base  in two of his three plate appearances. That's the most  RBI  Johnson has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was  Dawson Keckler, who  scored a  run and  stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
 Meanwhile, Windsor made easy work of Brunswick  on Thursday and carried off  a  14-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Dukes, who have now won three contests by seven  runs or more  so far this season.
 Surry County pushed their record up to 3-1 with the  victory, which was their seventh straight  at home dating back to last season. Those  home  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Windsor, their victory  ended  a  five-game drought on the road  dating back to last season and  puts them at 4-2.
 Everything went Surry County's way against Windsor in their previous matchup  back in May of 2024, as Surry County made off with  a  10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
