Basketball Recap: Chesnee's Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

After flying high against Liberty last Friday, Chesnee came back down to earth. The Chesnee Eagles took a 44-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Laurens Raiders. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Laurens' win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from DJ Dondrevious Martin, who posted 13 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Another player making a difference was Q Quinton Watts, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 17 points and three steals.

Chesnee moved to 14-5 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Laurens, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-5.

Chesnee and Laurens should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings. Chesnee (ranked 75th) will meet Chase (ranked 627th) at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Chesnee is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.8 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Laurens will challenge Fountain Inn at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 81 places (24 vs. 105).
