Basketball Game Preview: Space Coast Vipers vs. Roosevelt Roughriders

The Space Coast Vipers and the Roosevelt Roughriders will round out the year against one another at at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Space Coast comes in on three and Roosevelt on five.

Space Coast saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came out on top against Dunbar by a score of 38-31. The win was all the more spectacular given the Vipers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 246th in Florida, while the Crimson Tide are ranked 15th in District of Columbia).

Space Coast's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from JaLayah Anderson, who posted eight points. Layla Mangum was another key player, putting up eight points.

While Roosevelt didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They strolled past KIPP DC Legacy College Prep with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 47-30.

Roosevelt found their leader in sophomore Alexandra Fussell, who had 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelis Williams, who put up nine points.

Space Coast has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Roosevelt, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
