Preview: Waldron Mohawks vs. Morristown Yellow Jackets

The Waldron Mohawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Morristown Yellow Jackets at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Waldron and four for Morristown.

Last Saturday, Waldron was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 56-51 to Edinburgh. Waldron has struggled against Edinburgh recently, as their game on Saturday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Despite their defeat, Waldron saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Keith Settles, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Max Jones was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals.

Meanwhile, Morristown lost to Knightstown on the road by a decisive 56-39 margin on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Morristown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 301st, while Knightstown is ranked 100th).

Colin Kieninger put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 10 points and 12 rebounds. He scored a full 25.6% of Morristown's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Keithley, who scored 7 points.

Triton Central's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Waldron's loss dropped theirs to 0-2.

This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Waldron hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 52 points per game. It's a different story for Morristown, though, as they've been averaging only 37.5 per game. The only thing between Waldron and another offensive beatdown is Morristown. Will they be able to keep them contained? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.

Waldron strolled past Morristown when the teams last played back in March by a score of 58-39. Does Waldron have another victory up their sleeve, or will Morristown turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
