Basketball Game Preview: Mountain View Lobos vs. Ysleta Indians

Mountain View has gone 9-1 against Ysleta recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Mountain View Lobos will take on the Ysleta Indians in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mountain View has seven straight victories, Ysleta has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Mountain View didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Santa Teresa, but they still walked away with a 47-43 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Lobos' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 802nd in Texas, while the Desert Warriors are ranked 97th in New Mexico).

Mountain View's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Breann Martinez, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards, and Natalia Salas, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards Martinez has posted since back in November. Another player making a difference was Yajaira Diaz, who posted three points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Meanwhile, Ysleta ended up a good deal behind Bowie on Tuesday and lost 39-20.

Mountain View pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.7 points per game. As for Ysleta, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Everything came up roses for Mountain View against Ysleta in their previous meeting back in November, as the team secured a 44-16 victory. Will Mountain View repeat their success, or does Ysleta have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
