Baseball Recap: Washburn's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Washburn blew Drummond out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Drummond got their revenge. The Castle Guards fell just short of the Lumberjacks by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Castle Guards have suffered since May 14, 2024.

Wyatt Melek put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Melek was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Melek wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chuck Lussenhop, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Washburn's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4. As for Drummond, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7.

While Washburn had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
