Recap: Independence Patriots vs. Nicholas County Grizzlies
The Independence Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 80-55 loss at the hands of Nicholas County. Independence has not had much luck with Nicholas County recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
It was another big night for Trey Stump, who went 7 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 33 points and 3 assists for Nicholas County. Those 33 points set a new season-high mark for him. Cole Brown was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Nicholas County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Independence will take on PikeView at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Nicholas County will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Hoover at 1:30 p.m. on January 6th. Hoover presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Nicholas County in West Virginia (Hoover is ranked 30th, while Nicholas County is ranked 92nd).
